Hit-a German Shepard rescue
Bill is Vice President of Mississippi Span (Mississippi Spay and Neuter), a private non-profit, charitable organization and funded by generous donors. They offer low-cost spay and neuter programs in communities across the state.
They had their Christmas Open House at the Clinic this weekend. There were lots of things going on, a bake sale, face painting, balloon animals, photos with Santa, dog trainers, agility demonstrations and a hot dog vendor. They also announced the winners of the 2011 photo calendar contest, it was all pretty exciting.

Bill looks forward to continuing to volunteer and help with animal shelters in Belize. Saga Humane Society, a non- profit organization that works toward promoting kindness and preventing cruelty toward animals is located on the island of Ambergris Caye in Belize.
The San Pedro Animal Hospital is also located on Ambergris Caye and is the only private veterinary clinic on the island. We were able to meet Dr. Laurie Droke, DVM the Vet at the hospital on our last trip to Belize. We all got to play a game of trivia at the local Road Kill Bar in San Pedro.

Great blog post! I am hoping to volunteer with SAGA also when we get to San Pedro, so I'm sure we'll be meeting you there at some point. Looks like you're doing wonderful work there in Mississippi!
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily, we are trying to educate the public on getting their pets spayed and neutered and stop filling up the shelters.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention all the unwanted animals that have to be euthanized... spaying and neutering is SO important to avoid needless deaths of innocent animals.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Emily, we worked for many years with a NO-KILL animal shelter called CARA. We really felt we were getting no where and decided to start working with MS. SPAN and work on getting things and trying to help on the front end.
ReplyDeleteHappy to have found your blog, thank you for pointing me here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful animals you have featured here, and good work you do.
Thanks Barb for stopping by...I look forward to checking out your blog more as well.
