Jerry Jeff Walker is once again back on the island with his hundreds of followers as he performs countless of concerts all around town. During one of his concerts at Wet Willy’s Cantina, on Thursday, January 27, 2011, Jerry Jeff Walker and Dale Clayton Wallace held a guitar auction to raise funds for the San Pedro Lions Club.

Local guitar maker and performer Dale Clayton Wallace donated one of his original guitars to Mr. Walker as a return favor for some assistance a couple years back. Instead of using the guitar to raise funds for an organization in the United States, Mr. Walker decided to hold a public action here in San Pedro. His charity of choice was the San Pedro Lions Club and the money went towards repairing the Lions Club Mosquito Coast Park pier.

The successful guitar auction was able to raise $1,000US with Mr. Bob Volner from Texas as the lucky owner of one of Mr. Wallace’s original creations. The guitar was signed by Jerry Jeff Walker, Mr. Dale Wallace and H.R. Stoneback (a world renowned writer, poet and professor at a University in New York State) who was present at the concert that evening.

Mr. Dale Clayton Wallace is Belize’s first guitar maker of Spanish/Torres style guitars and a popular musician on Ambergris Caye. He told Ambergris Today that he is very honored to have assisted Jerry Jeff Walker with the auction and hopes to make this an annual event fundraiser for a deserving charity on the island.

Jerry Jeff Walker will be on the island through to February 6, 2011, so sure to catch one of his concerts before he departs.
