Chicken Drop Fundraiser for ACES Wildlife Refuge

Last week I wrote about ACES (American Crocodile Education Sanctuary), well this Thursday there will be a Chicken Drop fundraiser for ACES at Wahoo's Lounge located on the beach. 

Wondering what a chicken drop is?  The Chicken Drop is a fun time where people will pick numbers that are on a board.  The idea is to see if the chicken will poop on your numbers.  If so, you win. 

Wahoo has a large enclosed board that is displayed on the beach with numbers from 1 to 100.  You can purchase a square for $1.00BZ.  The drop starts at 7:00pm so get there early to get your tickets and a good sit near the board.  There is a drop every 20 minutes.  Just remember if your chicken wins, you don't get the chicken but you do get to clean up the poop or pay someone out of your earnings to do it for you. 

So come down and place your bets, this weeks prizes are going to be great and the money raised will go to ACES who help keep Ambergris Caye and the crocodiles safe.

Fundraisers for Mama Vilma's Family House and Liberty Children's Home this Month

Picture by Tacogirl I wanted to help Tacogirl spread the word about two great events happening this month on Ambergris Caye. There will be two fundraiser events benefiting Mama Vilma's Family Home and Liberty Children's Home that you will not want to miss.  Starting this weekend the St. IV and V class at the lsland Academy is having a garage sale on Saturday, May 12th from 9:00am until 12 noon and it  will be located on the lot next to Asian Garden Spa. They need garage sale items, so if you have any donations, they can be dropped off at Asian Garden Spa until now until May 11th. All proceeds of this sale go to Mama Vilma's Family Home and Liberty Children's Home. Mama Vilma’s Family Home provides disenfranchised families and children with temporary housing, food, medical care, counseling and education to foster their connection with the San Pedro community and assist with developing a strong family unit. Liberty Children’s Home is a sanctuary for children in need, providing a natural loving, nurturing environment, and a high standard of education. Situated in Ladyville, on the outskirts of Belize City, Belize, Central America. Liberty is a refuge for abused, neglected and abandoned children from throughout Belize.  It is unique in its commitment to child-centered care and education. Liberty's philosophy has been influenced by the Pikler method of childcare, a well-researched approach developed to prevent the damaging effects of institutionalization on children. Liberty also draws from the Reggio Emilia and Montessori methods that aim for the fullest possible development of the child-centered care. Another fundraiser that you don't want to miss will be Sunday, May 27th.  There will be a BBQ, Silent Auction and Hula-Hooping contest at Pedro's Inn starting at 12 noon (Belize time of course).  Lots of fun for the whole family.  This event is to raise money for the ongoing activities of Liberty Children's Home.  Event sponsors are Pedro's Inn and Island Academy, with special thanks going to Belize Bank.
